We have posted a quick video to show an effective laser cleaning technique for the PS3.  This could fix a lot of PS3 disc read errors.

Disc read problems on the PS3 are often caused by a simple dirty lens. The PS2 and PS1 suffered similar problems, especially if the console is exposed to cigarette smoke. The good news is there is a fairly simple solution to fixing dirt build up on the PS3 laser. Tools you will need are phillips screwdriver, Torx T10 security screwdriver and a set of precision screwdrivers. Also, you will need cotton buds (QTIPS) and rubbing alcohol or lens cleaner.
