BA5815 / BA5815FM

The BA5815FM chip is a fairly common problem for the PS2 console.  Installed on the DVD drive pcb on V4+ consoles, rather than the PS2 mainboard, the BA5815FM was prone to overheat, despite the heat transfer pad that was installed over it to conduct the heat away from the chip to the metal cover.

Replacing to chip can be a pain.  It requires the use of SMT de-solder equipment in order to melt the solder of all pins at one time.

In our workshop we use a de-solder tweezers with a special adapter for this kind of chip.

Brand new BA5815FM chips are available from our online store.
