Here we have some information to help you diagnose your PS2 fault.
My Games will not load, I keep getting a disc read error, or some games will load, and some will not:
You most likely have a laser problem.
Laser problems are by far the most common headache for PS2 owners. The good news is that most can be rectified without the need to replace the laser eye or laser pick-up.
Some simple adjustments can make a big difference to your PS2′s performance, also, some cleaning may help.
First things first, try our Laser Adjustment 101 tutorial, this will help in most cases, if not, proceed onto laser tutorial 2.
DVD’s will not play:
First thing to do, ensure you are using a DVD with the correct region code for your console. A DVD from the USA will not play in the UK, due to the region code of the disc.
If the region is correct, you most likely have a bad laser.

There is No Power:
First check your power supply fuse. Use a multi-meter or fuse tester, if it has blown replace with fuse of same value. Use a 20mm Fuse, glass or ceramic.

If the fuse blows again, the best option is to replace the power supply board with a new one.
If your power supply checks out ok, it’s time to look at the mainboard surface mount fuses (SM Fuses). To test these fuses it is best to use a multi-meter, we like the kind that makes a sound when there is continuity (the fuse is ok). Depending on your version console, there can be upto 15 of these fuses on the mainboard.
